At Bangaroo in Bangor, we turned an original 1980s home into a spacious, contemporary family residence, delivered under a Complying Development Certificate (CDC). We extended the living and dining areas into a generous open-plan space, moved the bedrooms to the front of the home for greater privacy, and built a new master suite with its own ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. At the heart of the home, Smartstone Bianco Angelico benchtops anchor a kitchen finished with Polytec cabinetry, while every bathroom was fitted with custom-made vanities and premium tiles supplied by TileArt, tying the new extension back to the rest of the renovated home.

Turning Bangaroo, a dated 1980s home in Bangor, into a spacious, contemporary family residence was the job here, and we delivered it under a Complying Development Certificate (CDC). The renovation focused on improving functionality, bringing more natural light into the main living areas and tying the home’s indoor and outdoor living spaces together. Rather than a series of isolated updates, Dura Group treated Bangaroo as a complete transformation, reworking the existing 1980s layout to suit modern family life while keeping the extension and the renovated rooms cohesive from one end of the home to the other.
We added this home extension to the original 1980s footprint, creating open-plan living and dining space that gives the family significantly more room to gather and entertain. That extra floor area improved the way the home flows, and it let natural light flood into the main living zones. Internally, we also reconfigured the layout, relocating the bedrooms to the front of the home for greater privacy and a more functional floor plan. As part of that redesign we created a luxurious master suite at Bangaroo, complete with its own private ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, so the homeowners have a dedicated retreat well away from the main living areas of the house.
Finished in Smartstone Bianco Angelico benchtops, the kitchen at Bangaroo pairs that surface with Polytec cabinetry, which carries through to a custom-made bar built to match. The elegant, natural stone-inspired Smartstone surface brings a timeless sense of luxury while standing up to everyday family life, and the matching bar creates a cohesive entertaining space that flows through the main living area. We fitted every bathroom in the home with custom-made vanities for bespoke storage, then finished them with premium tiles supplied by TileArt that add texture and continuity right through the interior.
Bangaroo now reads as a light-filled, contemporary family residence built for modern indoor-outdoor living, a long way from the dated 1980s home we started with. Outside, new landscaping gives the property a more inviting street presence and connects the renovated home with its outdoor surroundings, and we reconfigured the existing garage into a single-car garage to free up space and optimise the overall layout. Between the extension, the new finishes and the updated exterior, this one shows Dura Group’s experience transforming older Sutherland Shire homes into practical, contemporary family residences.

Bangaroo shows what a home extension and complete internal transformation can achieve together, delivered as a single CDC-approved project. If you’re weighing up your own home extension, kitchen renovation, bathroom renovation or CDC approval in Bangor or the wider Sutherland Shire, you’ll see the same attention to layout, material selection and getting the approvals right in the way Dura Group works.
