What does a home builder in Ashfield do?

A home builder in Ashfield manages residential construction and renovation projects from initial design through to final handover. This includes new home builds, structural extensions, granny flat construction, duplex development, and full interior renovations across kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry spaces.

Ashfield is a diverse suburb with a bustling town centre and strong transport links, located approximately 9 kilometres from the Sydney CBD in the local government area of Inner West Council. Ashfield centres around its railway station and busy commercial district along Liverpool Road.

Homes in Ashfield include Federation homes, interwar bungalows, Victorian terraces, and newer apartments. Dura Group holds all required licences under the NSW Home Building Act 1989. Every project in Ashfield goes through Inner West Council for DA or CDC approval. Mark and the team handle this entire process, from drafting compliant plans to liaising with council assessors and coordinating BASIX certificates.

Why do Ashfield homeowners choose Dura Group for renovations?

Ashfield homeowners choose Dura Group for fixed-price contracts, transparent material selection, and 25 years of building experience across Sydney. There are no hidden costs, no builder markups on fixtures, and no surprises at handover.

Inner West Council manages all development applications for Ashfield. Mark personally oversees every Ashfield project. You receive direct communication from the person making decisions on your build, not a project coordinator relaying messages.

What renovation services are available in Ashfield?

Dura Group delivers 6 core renovation services in Ashfield: kitchen renovations, bathroom renovations, laundry renovations, ground floor extensions, upper storey additions, and granny flat or duplex construction.

Kitchen renovations in Ashfield typically involve removing walls between dated galley kitchens and living areas to create open-plan layouts. Dura Group manages the full scope, from structural engineering and beam installation to cabinetry, stone benchtops, and appliance fit-out.

Bathroom renovations range from single-room updates with new tiling and fixtures to full reconfiguration of wet areas. Ground floor extensions add living space without altering the roofline, while upper storey additions suit blocks where footprint expansion is limited.

How does Dura Group handle council approvals in Ashfield?

Dura Group prepares and lodges all DA and CDC applications with Inner West Council on behalf of Ashfield homeowners. This covers architectural drawings, structural engineering plans, BASIX energy and water efficiency certificates, and any required specialist reports.

Inner West Council has specific controls for residential development across different zones. Dura Group identifies these requirements early, preventing delays and unexpected costs during the approval process.

About Ashfield, NSW

Ashfield is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Ashfield is about 8 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district. Ashfield’s population is highly multicultural with the majority of the area’s dwellings being a mixture of mainly post-war low-rise flats (apartment blocks) and Federation-era detached houses. Amongst these are a number of grand Victorian buildings that offer a hint of Ashfield’s rich cultural heritage. == History == === Aboriginal people === Before the arrival of the British, the area now known as Ashfield was inhabited by the Wangal people. Wangal country was believed to be centred on modern-day Concord and stretched east to the swampland of Long Cove Creek (now known as Hawthorne Canal). The land was heavily wooded at the time with tall eucalypts covering the higher ground and a variety of swampy trees along Iron Cove Creek. The people hunted by killing native animals and fish. The arrival of the First Fleet in 1788 had a devastating effect on the local people, mainly from the introduction of smallpox, to which the indigenous people had little resistance. === Early British settlement === By 1790, a rough track had been built between the colony’s two settlements at Sydney Cove and Parramatta.
